Summer Days!

We are enjoying the summer over here. Nights are mostly spent at the ball field, which has been hot lately...shssh!! Long nights with catching fire flies and dodging water balloons. If I could bottle this age I would. Being bored comes the best creativity. We have made water slides from boogie boards, tents with strings and tying water balloons with spoons, but this the fun of summer and growing up!

Learning to boogie board, finding seashells, peeling shoulders and endless ice cream cones. We are enjoying no schedules and have already counted down the summer.....bummer! We have visited some family and have relaxed. Gardening is a bit challenging, but we are still trying. We love flowers and it so fun when they actually come back the following year. Can you tell I don't have a green thumb. This year I have introduced succulents into our space and I love them. Being silly, trying to stay up really really late (this is big when your six), being able to eat two smores because mom says it is ok just this one time :) Summer is about being free, laughing, and having fun. I know this will not be the case much longer, our almost teenager will not want to be around his boring parents....sniff sniff, but today I am enjoying the summer, family and grateful to see these experiences.

Tomorrow is not here yet, so I hope your enjoying your summer days and nights. Eating smores and laughter. It goes by so quickly, but today I think I will be indulging in a scoop of ice cream. How about you? Smiles, Jackie

Wow...I fell off the planet!

I cant believe its been since January since I last posted. Kids, life....holy smokes the time goes fast.
I have been super busy, teaching, working and doing a bit of designing. I obviously cant balance so well, since I haven't journaled any of it! I hope that will change, I think it will.

The power of blog land, I recently meet so many wonderful ladies. Its been uplifting and inspiring to say the least. I had the chance to go to Nada Farms. WHAT A TREAT!! The farm was beautiful and all the sweet vendors had lovely wares. I shopped and even took an art class.

I had a ball and Jeanne was such an amazing teacher!! Here is us with my new mixed media piece~YAY!! You must go check out her clothing line.....simply gorgeous!! I will journal soon...

Creative juices are easily distracted with three kids. I try to be creative daily but sometimes our life becomes chaotic and....well, I will be honest.....it doesn't happen! I did happen to get some things done for the love day and my daughters birthday which is tomorrow. Happy Birthday Baby!! I haven't been in clay in so long.....I miss it, but my hands are thankful. I created this french girl holding a heart on a buttoned box. I also made the frame with buttons. Found the frame in the clearance section, painted and glued buttons which I had on a piece of burlap. This piece will stay out all year, but perfect for Valentines Day. I forgot where I saw this frame idea, so if it was your idea, send me an email and I will add your link.

I have been painting canvas and making bags which I got the idea from this talented gal. I was fortunate enough to take her class last summer and I have found painting fun, intimidating, but fun! I also made this box and got the idea from her book Canvas Remix, so full of great ideas. This box will be for my daughter for her hair clips, I am trying to keep those things organized....trying....

It was made from all the scraps from the canvas bags, just cut up and glued to a box. I added a fun wooden knob and some wooden feet.

I made a few bags for Christmas presents and just got carried AWAY! My daughter asked for one for her birthday and I thought it would be fun. I got the great charm from here. Her shop is so fun and she also had a fun spread on making bags in the magazine Gifts Cloth Paper Scissors. The striped bag was from her pattern and then I made two others with words. The combinations are endless!

Christmas is near......

Christmas is near and I hope there is no stress for you, really I do.
I think last month was my stressful time with all the doctor visits.
We are all doing better, thank you for all your kind emails.
They were all so sweet and kind, you warmed my heart.

I am busy making handmade gifts....many to do this year.
In our family we have a tradition of helping others.
We have sent shoe boxes filled with toys and necessities for kids across the world.

You can too, there is still time, here is the link.

We also are packing meals for kids on Friday here.

My kids are counting the days to pack meals......its very rewarding for them, for me too!

With being so cold outside, I have found time to do one home project.

I know right, I cant believe it either....

I have wanted a kid station in our extremely small entry way forever.

With three kids it can get chaotic.....no, it gets MESSY.

So, I found this piece on the side of the road.

Yes, my runner friend and I picked this up and stuck it my van.

My husband rolled his eyes and I had another project in the garage....I confess I have MANY!!

Well this one is checked off my list.

My daughter helped and we had fun.

It looks very anthropologish to me.....fun papers layered....fun patterns and prints.

The last thing to do was to find some baskets.

My hope is my kids will get there stuff in the baskets instead of the floor, crossing my fingers.

A friend and I went to the flea market last weekend...yes in December we trucked out in the cold....brrrrr!!

It was well worth it.....I scored two vintage wire milk baskets.

They fit perfectly, what do you think?

We have played in the snow since we all feeling better.....I had to add this picture, just for fun.

I want you to look closely....we have a new friend in our house.

She is the one looking out the door.....can you see her?

She is a white/mix Siamese cat. She hung around our house all summer. With winter coming I desperately wanted to find her a home because I knew she wouldn't survive the brutal cold here.

Well, we haven't found her a home yet, but thankfully she is warm. We have named her Molly and if your interested, please email me. I unfortunately can not have cats, but my heart couldn't see this sweet animal with no home. She is the sweetest and even loves my two shih tzus Huck and Finn. She loves playing and just being by you......

I believe animals that have faced hard times just know and have the best dispositions, don't you think?

Whirlwind....

Dec 2......is this true?
How did the time escape me?
Family life has taken me over, over the edge.
Alex had surgery, she is doing better, but for two weeks we were all tired.
Jake dislocated his knee in a soccer game.....
More doctors, an mri and even a surgeon, but thankfully no surgery need...whew~
Thanksgiving was a true day of being thankful....pretty relaxing with no stress, just yummy food!
I am running a lot more, doing less art.
Just taking a break, I had a full fall schedule.
Too many shows this year for my poor family to deal with.
I am making handmade gifts for special friends....pictures soon....shhh,dont tell!

Dazed and Confused....

Whew....time is flying by.
Few local things are happening which is keeping me busy.
I had a gallery event this weekend at our fall festival, it kept me so busy.
I didn't have my camera to take pictures and I felt as if I wasn't even present.
Talking with some customers, I am sure they thought I didn't have a brain!!

I have a few more shows that I have added to my plate....so hopefully I can get my act together.....and not so confused, like a deer in headlights.

I am doing an event at my church, called Bella Viaggio.
Its a women's event and there will be a holiday boutique.
I was asked to participate and was so honored and thrilled.

There will be over 60 vendors.......get some Christmas shopping done early!!

So, if your local stop on by for some holiday treats!!

I am feeling very grateful today.

I was fortunate enough to take an art class from an uber talented gal from the west coast. Due to my moms generous gift I was able to take one of Alisa Burke's workshops here in Chicago at the Create Workshops.....

So fantastic, I learned so much and experienced a new found love for creating large!

Most of you knew I work small, this class was called Larger Than Life!!

I had to let go and paint layers and layers on a huge canvas, mine was 5 feet wide or so....GI-NORMOUS!!!!!

I was scared, terrified and starred at the blank canvas for quite a bit, but then just started adding layers.

It was cathartic and wildly fun!!

I think this has changed my art and I am not intimidated by large canvas anymore.....yay!!!

Here is a my canvas...I am still added elements and have quite a bit to go, but I am happy with my progress.

This was an unbelievable gift (thanks mom!)I cant wait to get messy with my kids! There are so many projects that are running through my mind~I just need to find the time.....lol!!!

We are in countdown mode at my house. We have 9 days left until school starts. I can not believe summer has zipped away.

I love this time of year.
I don't know about your kids but mine bicker, some days are better than others, but by now I can tune them out like a champ.
Unless one has blood streaming down my face, I don want to hear what one did to the other.
I know....I sound like I don't care, but I do, our house rule is treat others as how you would like to be treated,

This is how it goes.......running footsteps towards me.
Mommy, Mommy, Jake did this to me....its usually a scuffle, but well enough to drum up crocodile tears and no marks visible.

I automatically ask Kate, what did YOU do??......more footsteps running towards me.

Jake interrupts, I stopped her from hitting me and she got mad.
I reply, is that true......no mommy Jake wouldn't let me hit him and he was laughing at me.....
You see Jake is 12 and our youngest is 5.
So, I send them on their way and tell Kate not to hit and she turns around and says, I am not, Jake wouldn't let me. (as i try not to laugh....hehehe)

Some would think this is funny (which i do), but after the 10th time its more frustrating than comical.

Our middle child was sick this week, so we laid low and needless to say everyone was bored.

So, today started off with a bang!
We finished up getting school supplies and clothes....I love this part!

I remember the smells of new erasers, shiny notebooks and new art supplies.

To me it was like Christmas morning, I loved all new art supplies, clothes and the excitement of seeing old friends and making new ones.

I know I am a dork, but the start of school was just so much fun and now as a mom....I am excited to send them on their way...yippee!!!

We always buy a special outfit for our kids.

It is still hot, summer like temperatures so they usually still wear their summer shorts and such, but they love picking out something new.

This year, I wanted to make the girls a funky pair of capri's.....

As you know, I LOVE fabric and I couldn't resist to challenge myself with ruffled capri's.

So, I have finished a 2 pairs and have three more to do!

This was my first pattern I followed and my first pair of pants I have ever MADE!!!

My girls love them and I have already been stopped to make/take orders...heheehee!!

I don't think I will change from working in clay to manufacturing pants, but I do love them~now if I could only make them in my size :)

Summer Snippets.....

Summer is in full swing.
We have been swimming, biking and being lazy.
I love not having a schedule and being able to do whatever we want.
I survived my week away from my baby, he returned safely from camp.....
I still get emotional, he is growing up so fast!!!

Summer bugs and the blues......

Today is a bit grey, we have rain this morning and I am feeling gloomy inside too.
My oldest is going away for church camp on Saturday.
I have had months to prepare, we had to register in Feb.
Today it is hitting me and just a little too hard~
I dont know how I will manage a week with out seeing his sweet face.
Ya see he is only 11......why did I agree to this??
He will be 6 hours away.
I know I know.....he is growing up, but why so FAST~
I am trying to stay strong and not let him see me get emotional.
Even just typing this I have nervous butterflies fluttering away ........
So, as I pull myself together, I hope the days will fly by.

Speaking of flying, I have been working on bugs....ladybugs that is......

A client asked to me create some unique pieces for her ladybug tree.

How cute is that.....all sorts of ladybug ornaments.

I did two, there is Miss Ladybug in a previous post.

When I finished with her she asked me to do a Mr. Bug.... a Gentlemen of course!

He was so fun to create and he even holds a handful of red posies behind his back.

So.....as the week gets closer to an end and our son leaves for camp, I have to remember to let go a little.

I know he will have so much fun and when he returns he will probably be an inch taller ***SNIFF***

So as his week journey is about to begin and he spreads his wings a bit and begins to fly.....

I will embrace the ride.....up up and away!!! (whether i like it or not)

Happy Monday......
We had a wonderful Fathers Day with my two favorite guys,
My dad and my hubby, both outstanding fathers.
We grilled and hung out for the day.
I am so thankful for these two guys.
They are great examples for the kids and I truly have two gems in my life~

Speaking of gems....we are planning a combo birthday bash for our 2 girls.
Still working out some details, but I think a tea party is the census.
Since going on my art retreat and creating the teapot with Alice and the rabbit, my girls have insisted on a tea party with a wonderland theme......so my wheels have been turning.
My awesome hubby has been doing some things too....its going to be a fun gala.

I did not have to ponder long......

I love old, eclectic funky things,but for me it would have to be when I received my first big girl bike.
I was 11 or so......my parents did not buy me the pink huffy with sparkles.

I received a 50s mint green cruiser........I LOVED IT!

I was so proud of that bike, I rode it for years!!

This year we actually bought our middle daughter a big girl big.....

After much research, we found this!!! Love it!!!

Summer Sandwiches

I love to cook, but finding new things to do is somewhat challenging.

We have staples in our house.....but as an artist I also love to get creative in the kitchen

We eat salmon twice a week, I love salmon.
The challenge is to find something interesting to do with it~

Well, if you like salmon, you must try it!!
You will not be disappointed.....

Recipe
Note ~ This recipe is for poached salmon, but you can use leftover salmon from the grill

1/2 cup dry white wine or water
12 ounces skinless salmon fillet, about 1 inch thick
3 wedges of Laughing Cow Cheese (I used garlic and herb)
*you can also use whipped cream cheese...any flavor you prefer
2 tbsp. milk, I use low fat 2%
1 tbsp fresh dill
1 tsp finely shredded lemon peel
Ciabatta Loaf cut and toasted
1 cuo fresh baby spinach

In a large skillet combine wine and 1/2 cup water
Bring to a boil; add fish
Cover and simmer for 8 to 12 minutes or until fish is easily split with a fork
Remove fish, discard liquid
Let fish cool or serve with dish warm, its up to you~

In a small bowl combine cheese, milk, dill, lemon peel and 1/8 tsp of fresh ground pepper.
I did this first and put in the fridge to meld flavors.

Spread mixture on cut sides of bread, arrange spinach and salmon and ENJOY!!

This is a great summer sandwich.
It reminds me of the beach or picnicking in the park.
We made it this weekend with fresh fruit......so yummy!!
Kid tested and kid approved too......this one will become a staple in our house.

The kids have one day left.....oh my!!!
Are moms really excited?

I am excited to be relaxed and bored......
I feel that I create best with no routine,
I love the kids in the art room with me.
We laugh, we sing and ideas start spilling over.

So, I am excited for that, but......
Yes, there is a big BUT,
I am not excited for the fighting......the messes.....the complaining its too hot.
Its summer!!!! Enjoy it, I am going to try really hard :)
We plan on do lots so if I am not around, drop me a line.

I am still taking custom orders....like Mrs. Bug she is flying off to California~

I finished something......

If you read my earlier post I was complaining about my unfinished projects. I finished one.....hooray!!! It was my grandmothers dining room set, I should say, the hutch. It was very outdated, blonde wood....yikes, but it had delicate edges and I saw POTENTIAL, so we began this long process. My husband and I tackled it together and I love the way it turned out. We painted it cream and sanded the edges, kept the black hardware and put my creamware back inside.....voila!!

So, feeling a bit good and crossing something off my long, seemingly endless list, today was a good day. We did hang the curtain rods, I still have to hem the edges of the curtains, so hopefully another project will be completely soon ;)

Still going....

My unfinished projects have got the best of me.
I am still painting furniture, trim and trying to get my rooms back in order.
Spring time is always hectic for us.
Sport schedules, end of year programs at school, and more projects like yard work.
I am very happy being able to be outside more, but.....
When I spend more time outside....the inside gets neglected :(

The only project I have finished is a whimisical quilt.
Strawberries, polka dots, lady bugs and just full of fun~
I even recycled a cute sequined shirt.
It was my daughters and with left over scrap fabric, I made this sweet little pillow.
So, know we can snuggle up and read her favorite books.

I also finished my second half marathon.....this year a friend joined me and it was a blast.

The special treat was my husband and kids cheering me on every few miles....so special~

So know that you have seen my treats.

I wish all you moms a very special day on Sunday!!!

The Unfinished Project Bandit

Projects.....the word overwhelms me.

With Spring here I always get over my head with the start of too many projects....

Let see what is going on in my household right now....

We put bead board up in the kitchen, plus repainting it too.

Dining room is getting repainted and we are painting my grandmothers armoire, sideboard and table....oh my!

Just typing it down makes me shake my head, why do I do this??

Plus, I have a few art commitments and 3 busy kids.

One of which is SpookyTime Jingles.

Which that project is done, and it will debut on the 13th.

A Food Revolution

I usually dont talk about my kiddos or discuss our lifestyle.
We are a family that changed our lifestyle out of anger.
When my oldest (he is 11) went to school, I saw what they served at lunch.
I was literally grossed out~
We started making better food choices.
We have been eating Clean for 6 years.
What is clean, you ask.....
Clean eating is not processed food.
We cook a lot.....I should clarify I cook a lot!!
I prepare the kids lunches and snacks.
Yes, this takes time and some creativity, but its worth it!
Our kids need us to teach them, not give just give them what is conveniant.
We dont use our microwave, it actually stores my toaster and bread....lol.

It's a teacher eating & documenting the school lunches in her school.....brave lady!!!
We as consumers need to change our food system.
We have three choices a day......its better for our kids, YOU and our communities.
I will get off my soap box....I must go make dinner.

Happy St Patty's Day.
My only piece for the green lucky occasion.
Its in my Etsy shoppe at a special price.

We ate colcannon last night.
Basically, it's mashed potatoes with cabbage and leeks.
So yummy!
Its usually made with left overs from your corned beef and cabbage.
Such a comfort food~
The only thing my hubby went to the store and bought the cabbage.
I asked him to grab cabbabge already shredded, to save me time.
He came home with purple cabbage....oh my!!!
So we had purple potatoes.....its was pretty cool for the kids!!
My son actually said this would be good for Halloween.....
What do you think?
It's actually is so good, the picture doesnt do it justice.

We also went to the parade in the rain....
Pretty funny pictures, we had a great time :)

We saw silly leprauchauns on crazy motorcycles! So funny~

A few weeks ago I swapped with an artist.
The BEST perk of being an artist.
I love swapping.
With raising a family, the budget is tight.
So when I get the opprtunity to swap,
Well its like getting presents....yes I am like a little kid.
Giddy I tell you,
I jumped up and down when I open my sweet package from Suz.
She is lovely artist.
She make all sorts of eye candy....I wish I could snatch up all her delights.

I'm Home.....

I returned home and my mind is in so many different directions.

I went to my first art retreat.

This was an unbelievable journey.

It far surpassed any of my expectations.

The growth I felt as an artist was so intoxicating.

I was surrounded by other dreamers.

I was in an art bubble for three days...oh my!!

I met some great people.

I took two awesome classes.

The teacher, whose art I drool over was AMAZING!!!

If you haven't seen her creations check out Julie Haymaker's art.

She is phenomenal teacher and the days went by so quickly.

The only disappointment I had was I didn't snap some pictures of us.

So if you have a chance to go to Art N Soul do so....you will have a blast.

I went alone and I left meeting some new friends~

So beyond thrilled.....I have been sketching since I have left.

New ideas and thoughts.

I have come back recharged!!

I so needed this especially in this long dreary winter.

I didn't do much site seeing.....some fantastic dinners.

I did do a bit of shopping.

My favorite store had a wonderful recycled art in the windows.

So in wishing for Spring to come quickly I snapped this picture.

Its in Anthro, they cut bottles and painted them and they look like blooming flowers!

So lovely~

As my story book week ended I had to share my picture with Humpty.

He was my fill in man for the week since my awesome husband took care of the kids at home!

I am off to clean my studio with this new found energy.....new creations are a brewing!!

WIP....I need help~

How was every one's love day? Mine was great. Getting handmade, kid wrapped presents is the best. They even went to my favorite candy shoppe...yummy!! We went to see the Percy Jackson and the Olympians.....if you have a son that is 11, I would recommend this movie!! So great, my son has read 4 out of 5 books in the series and has raved about it since book one. Its mythological and action packed.

I am going to my very first art retreat. I am so excited and nervous.

I received my information packet and a tea pot in the mail......

Challenge was to decorate the teapot any way you want.

The theme is Alice in Wonderland....so here is what I have so far

I also have sculpted bunny feet......I thought maybe a free standing bunny next to the teapot.I thought of putting wheels on the teapot too....This is the first layer of black and white.....lots more to do.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be great!!!
As far as my Tuesday giveaway...I will have to postpone until I get back.

Valentines is coming, homemade cards with the girls.

We got this idea out of the Family Fun Magazine.

Still have to finish them, but they are turning out great :)

Lots and lots of paper scrapes, googly eyes, glue and silly fun with two girls.

I finished my present to my husband, a printer table, he is a printer.

Lots of old wooden letterpress type, I really like how it turned out.

Another project of rearranging the furniture and pictures in our living room.

I admit I do this a little too often, but its a cheap fix in changing your decor.

Lastly, I just had to add this picture of my daughter, sleeping with a sweet sock stuffed friend, she has a cold and stayed home from school yesterday, so I thought this was cute.

Well, I do because my husband is a printer and I love color.

I love this color, I love turquoise jewelry. How I love thee......

I have a bathroom this color, a wool coat, one daughters room is painted this color,mary janes heels and patent leather cowboy boots!!

Today's list - Feb 2. clean and organize.....

I have a celebration at our house this Saturday.

My son's last performance, he is 11 and the lead role in the local theatre....so fun!

So everyone that is attending will truck to our house after for some good fun and spirits....

Not the kiddos, they will have cake, just making sure no one goes there.

In 2 1/2 weeks I am leaving for an art retreat and I am trying to be organized.

SOOO......in reality, this is what I have done.....

I have noodled on line, of course.....nothing like losing track of the time here.

Played with my daughter, her new thing is dancing, her favorite song is, "Lime and the Coconut".

So fun and to hear her laugh, makes me just plain HAPPY!

I tried to fix photos, you know editing....my attempt was small...ugh!!!

I think my neck has a crick from my brain and body intensely trying to do this.

This is so hard, so intimidating and oh my, oh my so CHALLENGING for me.

Don't get me wrong, I started the day with great effort to get these tasks done.

I worked out...cuz thats what I need to breathe, its my coffee~

With this vigor I thought I would get a ton accomplished...NOOP!!

The highlight was definitely dancing and laughing with my daughter.

An extra workout, which is always a bonus.

My heart fills with these moments.

I know they grow so fast and soon I will get the eye rolls when I try to reminisce and say, "we use to dance in the kitchen and be silly"......yes I know my reality is coming..

So today my heart is full and that is why.....just keep reading to find out!!!

Time is approaching that I must go get the kids.

Its snowing here.

I am not complaining, at least it 32 degrees and yes its pretty!!!

I know we will end up outside.

So my list will be changed, actually just the date, it will still read in bold letters

Feb. 3 CLEAN AND ORGANIZE....are you laughing with me.

My girls give me all sorts of ideas.

I have new stuff for Spooky Time Jingles for next month too.

Also, I finished a sweet trade and mailing it off this weekend.

So excited and thrilled to be trading with this artist.....

I will reveal my goodies later, so fun to be able to trade with great artists.

I think its my favorite.

Don't get me wrong I love to find treasures of art,

I have to have them, like I have to have air to breathe.

Its the artist in me, but trading gives me a warmth, a connection and I feel lucky!!

......hmmmm

today started as I walked downstairs, I heard lovely music.

as I wiped my eyes....thinking my husband was cooking breakfast....noop!!

not the fresh aroma of spinach, garlic and eggs.....

but my husband was doing yoga in our living room.

I actually had to open my eyes wide, thought my eyes werent in focus yet....

Couch and rug was moved, his blue yoga mat on the floor.

I found this so.....well proud of him.

He has taken a 30day excercise challenge and he has been transformed.

I love it.....it makes me inspired.

I am inspired for my health......a sort of surge.

I am a runner, well I try to be.

I run 4 to 5 miles about 5 days a week, but TODAY I felt challenged.

My husband inspired me to do something out of the oridinary.....WOW!

I did a ketlleball class....yikes.

So hard, I thought I was in shape.....NOOP! I am not!

I know tomorrow will hurt, but I plan to do another ~

So my question to you is......."What have you done for your health today"?

The art side of my life is being silly with my girls.

I love Valentines Day and we have been spreading the love.

Giving of yourself is the most unselfish thing you can do. I am trying to give more of myself to each of my kids on a one to one basis. I am pretty good juggling with all three kids, but one and one has been challenging.

Today, my youngest stayed home from preschool with a bit of a cold and she is resting. I keep checking on her (while being the housekeeper....ugh!!), asking if I can snuggle and she is wrapped up in her cozy fleece jammies. Dont tell, I still have mine on too. Breakfast was nice, just her and I not rushing out the door. Conversation was funny and the house was quiet. We have drawn pictures and practiced writing letters.

I hope that I can give more of myself and not just be the family coordinator.....

SO..speaking of L-O-V-E and that is my daughters new word to spell. I have a sneak peek of Spooky Time Jingles update. I have 4 love goodies along with others! Happy New Everyone!
I hope all is well. I am one happy mom.....the kids went back to school today!!! I love them dont get me wrong, but......

three kids +
frigid temps so stuck inside
= 1 frustrated tired of yelling "be nice to each other" mom....ugh so frustrated.

SO, what does today mean~
January 4th+
kids go back to school =
PRICELESS......I went to the gym, anthropologie (thanks secret santa), grocery shopping and not once did I have to kneel down and say "YOU BETTER BE NICE OR WHEN WE GET HOME YOU WILL GO TO YOUR ROOM....and threaten to take the wii away and give it to another family.....oh my!!! Am I the only mom that is going through the bickering stage....shish!!!

I dont think my kids get it...being nice to each other that is.....
My oldest gets it,plus he is a boy, but my younger girls, oh my........I have my work cut out for me.....and they are not even double digits yet......EEKS!!!!

So for the new year....I thought what resolution I'd like to have, I am the type to change my lifestyle, not just for a few weeks....so I wrestled with this thought.

Balance.....that is my resolution.....to find balance with myself, family and my art.
I have such a full plate and sometimes all the balls drop.....
more times than not.....

so I am going to try to balance things out....are you laughing~
I know its a tall order, but I think that is where calmness comes from, so I am going to TRY!!

I have been super creative, I think that is because we have been stuck inside and it's been too cold to play. I have a custom order that is almost finished. I thought it was so sweet. This client asked if I would make "love jar" for her friend who has had a hard year and wanted to do something special for her. She has asked all of her friends to write something nice or a lovely memory and when she has a bad day she can pull a thought out to make her "smile"......how grand is this~here is my love jar

Are you.....feeling naughty that is? I havent done any wrapping and I am online so yes, I am feeling a bit naughty. I wish I had a few......ELVES, to do my cleaning, baking wrapping and fudge eating, yes I have had too many sweets. I need help and would like to be the big man in the red suit with all the tiny elves to help out.....wouldnt you like help too, please tell me I am not the only one behind this time of year??

With all that has been going on, our house is a bit hectic. Yes, I did get the decorating and Christmas cards out, but details have been rumbling around in my head. One class party is over, all handmade gifts were given, so one deadline is over, one more to go and then the referee mode will be turned on......yes 2 1/2 weeks of telling my children not to fight or SANTA wont come......or maybe the threat of taking their new gifts away will make them be nice to each other.......a mom can only wish!

Speaking of elves.....I did a swap with Nancy from Dog Patch Critters, and I am so happy I added something more to my holiday, but this was for me to receive a gift....and a girl loves getting gifts, even if they say they don't.......I do and this was so fabulous!! She is a bear maker and look what I rec'd....the cutest little peppermint elf!!

Last year, I was lucky to meet Laurie from Monkey Cats Studio and do a swap with her......look at my other naughty elf.....love the develish grin, he stays out all year, I am so lucky to have him!So fantastic and I love my Elves.....now if they would only hear my rants and help me :)

One of our Christmas traditions it to go see Santa. We go to the American Legion were my Grandma volunteers. So every year they have a holiday party. We have gone since my son was born, 11 years. This year they had special entertainment......maybe these guys would come to my house.....I dont think we would get things done on my list, but I think we would laugh, dance, and get into some trouble!!! Here is grandpa and my daughter laughing....so fun!! These are the little people, have you seen them?

So fun, I hope I didnt rant too much, I shall go now. I will look under my couch and in the closets for more elves and maybe they will help me out?? Enjoy the day friends~

Christmas cards have been sent out, a bit of shopping is done and its freezing cold here. I am grateful for the warmth of my house. Still doing projects and decorating. Every year I love opening the boxes and seeing my treasures, especially the handmade ones from my children.

This year, I have really made efforts to go "all handmade".....a few store bought gifts, but look what I have found.

Candy for my sweetie...this is not his only gift, but I thought these looked yummy!!

Today, I awoke to the snow plow on the streets. I have to say I was not excited for the snow chores, the shoveling, the paw wiping (for our four legged children), and making sure my two legged children don't lose there gloves. I know, I know we go through so many sets of warm gear, but a girl can dream. I love the magic though, the tree branches, the glitter in fresh show and the peacefulness. Our puppy Huck went out for his first run.....he loved it!

Today frost has come......it's a cold crisp morning. I am writing this in my kitchen. The sun is peeking through the trees. I am enjoying the morning. This morning I thank all the veterans of their courageous fight for our freedom....thank you~

Halloween Festivities

The weekend flew by with all the Halloween festivities. So fun. Our whole family loves to dress up. First of the wild weekend was our annual pumpkin carving at our good friends house. This has become such a highlight of the season and the kids look forward to this as much as going trick or treating....here is my son getting advice from my good friend Katie.....we take this very seriously! Alex and I preparing our pumpkins......

The whole family before we went trick or treating. My husband was Forest Gump.....run Forest run!!!I was his hippy girlfriend, Jenny. I even found a vintage 60's dress on Ebay. My son was a dead Cub fan still waiting for them to win the world series. My middle daughter was a sweet baker. I bought the cupcake apron from Garboodles.....scrumptious!! Our littlest was a pink, of course pink, gypsy pirate girl, sparkles and all. We had a blast trick or treating, a bit cold, but when candy is involved.......there is nothing holding back our kids getting candy. Here is a witch passing out candy from her caldron.........BAWHAHAHAAAA!!!!!!! Running from house to house..... Smiling faces.....candy bags are full!!!

We are lucky enough our parents live close. So they spent the night and we went to a big kid Halloween party. I love to see what people come up with....

Stairway to Heaven and Highway to Hell.......very creative. On his stairs, he had an ipod playing both these songs!! We had so much fun and each year I am amazed at how creative and funny people are.....some are creepy, but lots and lots of imagination.

So, as I put my Halloween goodies away, I will cherish these fun times, and look forward to next year. Only 363 days left.....here are some of my treasures.

New Projects.....

Today is cold and rainy! So, today I am starting a new project. I collect old printer letters. I love them, they come in all sizes and they just make me happy. Many of you see me using letters in my art. I love children's blocks too. I am making my husband a table. A project I have wanted to do for some time....you know the ones, I have MANY of them. If I only had more time....ugh!! This will be a small coffee table. My hubby loves these letters too, he is a commercial printer, so he loves the history of letterpresses. So fascinating how they printed, a long lost art for sure. I have already washed and pulled out the inside of an old printer drawer. Here is the top. I didn't wash the letters, some have ink on them. I love the patina they have I didn't want to destroy that, rich browns and blacks. I have to attach the spindles and order a piece of glass....I love when projects get finished, well almost :)

So, I officially stopped running outside, I know I said that last week, but we had three days of good weather this week, so I took advantage. I took some pictures of the flowers on the trail. I also took a picture of a beautiful river cottage house. This quaint little house has great big beautiful urns of flowers and one unusual pet. Her name is Rhonda. She is an African tortouise. She is beautiful. No, I don't live in the desert, but this family has one. She doesn't need water since she is from Africa. They bring out a baby pool once a week and fill it with water.....this is the only time she needs to use the potty. I see her on my daily runs, but for now I will miss her till spring as both of us can not stand the cold weather......brrrr!!Look at the scale of these urns....they are HUGE!! Look in the grass, Rhonda is by the urn closest to the house. She is the size of your car tire...with spikes....lol!

Christmas is quickly approaching and I have an exciting announcement to make soon.....but for now I will give you a look at some new items I am working on....enjoy and have a great weekend! Jolly Santa's on vintage doorknobs they wibble wobble back and forth...so fun and folky!

Fall Goodness......

It's raining and I didn't run outside today. I hope to make to the treadmill today. I am bummed, but I think I will not be running my lovely river trails until spring. So, I am trying to stay positive. I do love the Fall. Comfy boots, hats and warm and cozy blankets like these........You can find these at Garnet Hill....it's on my Christmas wish list. My husband says I should keep dreaming, and to that I said, "I will and hope it goes on sale a bunch" ;) I also like the scents of fall. Fresh pumpkin pie, warm creamy soups.....(my fav with grilled cheese) and comforting smells of home. My friend Michele has a new candle website. Her great smelling candles will give youre home a inviting scent of any season. GO check them out, you will love them!! I need some soon, I can't wait to see you ;)

Here is my finished "BOO" piece....I have a few inquiries, but these are spoken for, but I will take orders. They were so fun to make, it hard to let them go. Sold! Thank you!

WIP....halloweenies

Getting things done seems to be my downfall lately. My daughter has pneumonia and it's just been hard to get my daily tasks done, whether it's laundry, cleaning in general or finishing up some art pieces. She has been getting better, but it's been a tough three weeks. Thank goodness our family isn't fussy and we have been doing a lot of soups, hot sandwiches, homemade chicken salads.....and toast. I haven't run in over a week, I hope to go tomorrow. Tomorrow will she will go back to school, she is so anxious and BORED at home. We have done lots of shrinky dinks, reading and doing homework, because I have made weekly trips to keep her caught up. We are off today for Columbus Day, so our house is still in our comfy cozy pj's......it's cold here. So much for that Indian summer. I did score some finds at our local goodwill store. I bought wool sweaters from England, the fisherman's cable ones and I plan to make some pillows. I also found a wool coat, a long mid calf one for me. It's a lovely soft teal. I will snap pictures soon, it's at the cleaners right know.....I cant wait to wear it, plus it was only $7.00.....whooo!!

This owl is in an old cheese draw. He has "31" painted on his chest. He also has a paper crepe collar. His cost is 58$ ands that includes his flight to you.....US RESIDENTS ONLY.

I also have two black birds, one with a pumpkin and the other with a festive striped party hat. They have striped wire legs and are on vintage childrens blocks. The one's that were colored blue, red and yellow. I used to play with those blocks for hours making castles. That dates me, I am sure. Cost is $28 for each....that also includes free flights to you! Enjoy!! Lastly, is a trio of Halloweenies....a witch, kitty and ghost. They are on vintage blocks too, which reads "BOO". They are not quite done, some details are missing. The witch and ghost are carrying paper treat bags and all aready for some yummy treats. The cost of this trio is 150$ and that includes their journey to your home. I can email more pics when they are finished, I will be posting them here too.

Yes...I am finally back. I have a new computer and I am able to upload photos.....I felt like I was in the dark ages. No, not really. It wasn't that bad, the summer flew by. The kids and I were so busy, the computer didn't miss me much. My neck was happy and I didn't get any kinks...so I was happy too. I have been noodling in blogland though and boy I did miss seeing you all and all your lovely creations. I have been busy too. I am trying to finish up Halloween orders. With all the busy schedules, I have been selling to just a local store. She has kept me very busy, no complaints, but I am trying to get some things posted on Esty soon...I hope!! With all these changes I do feel lost......my kids are growing sooo fast and becoming such great humans. I am amazed at their personalities, I am sure lucky to be apart of their lives.

So, as I was uploading photos from the summer, I gasped at how much time has lapsed....its been awhile and I am so glad I captured some of these amazing moments on camera.....here is one from the zoo......can you feel the roar....it felt like it was so close and it went through your chest.....simply amazing. I love the zoo!I also trained for my first half marathon.....I had so much fun. I had a goal of under two hours....I fell short. I ran it in 2 hours and 5 minutes......my hubby, kiddos and friends encouraged me with such awesome support. I couldn't have done it without you ;) This was something I thought I could have never achieved. The Chicago marathon is this weekend and I wish all my fellow runner friends.....good weather, a great run and an awesome time with friends!!

So, with chill in the air....I am accepting these new changes and letting myself breathe. It's nice to have this outlet and be able to get lost in blogland for a moment.

As summer is officially over, we say goodbye to the lake. We unwilling put away our life vests, ski's, fishing poles and wake boards. We will treasure our memories on the lake and count the days until we meet again.

Puppy Love

Hi there....its been quite a while since my last post. The end of year schedules have sure been a doozy in my house. Between soccer, baseball, and my sons first junior broadway play, my head is spinning. I have been helping out with costumes and sets, so my creative juices have been there, so I apologize for letting my blog lapse. I have had a few emails, and thanks for your kind words. I have some things sketched out and I am teaching a class soon, so I will post some new goodies :) SO.....if you read the title and you may be thinking what does all this nonsense have to do with puppy love...well with all the chaos and even remodeling our basement, we have a new addition to our family....he is 2lbs...an almost all black shih tzu, we named him Huckleberry, because our other four legged child, a two year old shih tzu's name is Finn...so naturally we had to have a Huckleberry....he is just so darn cute!! We are all adjusting and man how your heart can grow. :D The bottom picture is so sweet he is laying under the island.....and look in the background, that is chomper our 12 year old newfie/lab mix he is just a mere 170 pounds.......lets just say Huck runs from him......
Maybe I will get a better shot of him soon...he is so squirmy!! He has been great and our other puppies are getting used to him. I will post a crummy picture, I know, but I did a custom piece for a mom giving her daughter some bling for her college graduation...this is the jewerly box they will go in.....enjoy the holiday weekend...be safe and wear your sunscreen :D

The kids had all week off and we've had a fun and relaxing week....kinda sounds like a ox-moran, is that the way you spell that. We had some arguments between siblings and plenty of "we have nothing to do's" but we managed to get to friday and the weekend is jammed packed with the first official soccer weekend....so lots of carpooling and plenty of mud to be tracked inside the car...yuck, but it vacuums up...so off we go! Here's my gang on one of our outings this week, we went downtown Chicago and spent the day. I just fell in love with sculpture and just had to take a snapshot...the sun made all the colors soooo vibrant and beautiful! I have created a few new goodies for spring. Today is the first day of spring. Whooo!!! I know many of you have anxiously awaited for this day too. Even though its still chilly here in my town, I look forward to the spring days....I am not good at quoting people, but I once heard a saying with out a long dreary winter we would not welcome spring with such joy!! I so feel that and love that is the first day of spring. I hope you all have a lovely weekend, our family is celebrating our littlest baby's birthday...she was born on the first day of spring. She is such gift...full of spunk and sassiness Happy Birthday Baby xoxoxo!!

I thank all of you for your lovely messages. Your thoughts have brightened up my days. I have created a bit and put a few things in my etsy shoppe. Some spring things have sold but I have added a few more. This will be it for the spring season. I can't wait to see the tulips bloom and green grass..can you?? I have been overwhelmed with all your support and wanted to say thank you for all the encouragement. Many of you have emailed me privately and I am sorry if I "freaked" some of you out...so a bit of explanation of the changes. I have been diagnosed with a rare eye condition, that can be very scary and can lead to blindness. I have seen a few doctors and a great specialist. Luckily, my complications are in peripheral and not in my center of vision...but I still have yucky days and my vision is impaired. Being on the computer strains my eyes, so that is why I needed a break. I have dropped off some lovely online marketplaces too because of this. I still plan on keeping my blog, but it will change into a journal of sorts. So daily visits might turn into monthly ones, but I will be around. I plan on selling on Etsy still, but it will be less often. Thanks again for all your support, I truly feeling blessed to have friends like you, the online art community is GREAT!!

So....is anyone ready for spring yet...I am so ready. We have had some very chilly days here in Chicago. I am looking forward to the tulips blooming and seeing green grass :D With everything that has gone on I am take in the special things like this.....and not be taking them for granted. I have been inspired to do my first painting...it's a birthday present for my little girl, who turns 4 next month. Its sort of a portrait of her and her sister...one on the polka dots reads, "My sister", and another reads, "my friend". I hope to do more...... I had trouble sealing it with beeswax.....what a yucky process. I do like the finished effect, but man that stuff is hard to work with. Any tips would be greatly appreciated :D I also am working on my first quilt. I guess with all that is happened, my inner creative spirit is feeling the urge to learn...I have always been fascinated and admired quilts, so my mother law is teaching me.....this is my first attempt! I feel so lucky to have her as my teacher and to spend time with her...what a gift! The picture is the layout of the squares....it took me a long time to decide on how to lay it out....it reminds me of spring...so spring if your reading this, please hurry, I cant wait until you arrive. Things are always changing and sometimes we have to change with them, even if we don't expect them to change or want them to change. I am embracing it and feeling some what recharged by it. I hope this doesnt all sound so foreign or strange. I will be taking a break for some time. I will be back, hopefully soon. Catching Snow Flakes & Happy New Year!!

Wow...it flew by! Ever year Christmas comes quicker and quicker. We had a fun time visiting with friends and family, but it just feels like we are frantically trying to do it all in two days! Ever year I say next will be different, but then it repeats itself again. To watch our kids enjoy Christmas was just awesome. We do exchange gifts and some relatives go over aboard....I will not mention any names Grandma (oops!!) but we also want our kids to know the real meaning of Christmas. It was so awesome to see our littlest daughter so proud of her gift, she gave it to me and said, "I love you mommy" She colored a baby Jesus and wrapped it up. This was just an image on a piece of paper, but to hear her tell the story, just brought tears to my eyes! I will treasure it always. I just love seeing it through their eyes, its magical. She even held a candle at out candle light service at church and she just thought she was big stuff. So even though it went so fast the moments that are the most meaningful will always be in my heart. My kids did play in the snow before it flew out of here too, but it was so pretty and it was neat to see all the blankets of white around our house....it's great to enjoy this wonderous season even if it's a bit cold! Here is my middle daughter catching snowflakes!

Oh My...I've been away too long!

Hello....have you ever taken a vacation and need a vacation when you come back? Our family went away for Thanksgiving and I am just now able to sit down at my computer desk. We had such a great time, but I feeling overwhelmed ever since I have come back to town.... it;s like I am spinning in circles. Between two art shows, 1 home show, a gallery opening and the kids holiday practices we have been going non stop....oh my!! Plus throw in Christmas decorating...shopping and trying to get to all the holiday parties. The holidays are approaching soooo super fast this year....I can't get a handle on it...yes I need lots of help or maybe just some yummy hot chocolate cuz its also way to cold here...brrr!

Speaking of which I will pass on a super yummy recipe for those who love hot chocolate but dont like all the yucky stuff in it. This is a clean recipe....its very good and can be enjoyed by all!!

Mint Infused Hot Chocolate

1 mint green tea bag (you can choose decaf or regular, I use decaf)

1/4 cup boiling water

3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk

2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder

1 tbsp light or amber organic agave nectar

Sprig of mint for garnish (optional)

For an extra treat you can add soy whipped cream :)

Enjoy and stay warm too!

We had a wonderful time traveling I even got my own special treat. I met a very special lady on the way out to Colorado. We swapped art and I am a very lucky girl to have an amazing piece and was able to chat for a while too....before we knew it, we had to go but talking was so fun and the 2 hours felt like 2 minutes. Colorado always makes me appreciate the earth around us. The mountains are just so breathtaking. We took hikes almost everyday and were doing things outdoors almost the whole trip. I did venture indoors and try something new.....hot yoga! Whoo-hoo! It was so hot 120 degrees in the room....but your muscles were so warm and I just feel in love with it. Then at the end the teacher comes around an hands you a ice cold washcloth infused with lavendar and lemon...so invigorating! I highly recommend it. A definite stress reliever if your feeling the holiday stress bug!!!

The whole family went back to our favorite spot...the ZOO! It's a zoo that's in the side of a mountain, a bit small, but so neat. The kids and I love it. They even have a ski/chair lift that takes you up the mountain overlooking the zoo and the view is breathtaking. It's called the Cheyenne Zoo in Colorado Springs...check it out if you are in the neighborhood. You can feed the giraffes and they come very close!!! We loved that...here is us having fun with the long neck creatures...

I hope Santa is reading this in his busy schedule and knows mommy needs a better camera to take better pictures...haha! Just had to put that in there ;) We had a great time with friends and it was a needed vacation for our family...plus gas was cheap...thank goodness! Even though I had to take work with me, I really enjoyed it.

Hi there,

This weekend was very productive and a bit chaotic at times. I decided to move my studio in the basement. What a task, plus give my girls back their own rooms. They liked being together, but I had the toughest time keeping it clean because they fought and said the other made the mess. So, I did it and separated them, so hopefully no more excuses and clean rooms. I was very torn because I always wanted a sister to share a room with, I thought my girls would love it. Yeah right, plus I know it will never be clean...but a mother can always hope, right?! So, I gave up my light airy room for the dark basement, but don't all parents sacrifice.....I have a vision of my dream studio and maybe someday I will have it :)

So, I received a wonderful award from the amazing Laurie from Monkey Cats Studio. She is an amazing artist and genuinely nice person. So the award is called a Miss Antoinette Award and I have to give it to others....which I am so bad at sooooo, I thought I would just send all the readers a hearty thank you for your inspiration and may all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families......and give back this year. Go help a family in need, donate canned goods to a shelter or pass out meals at a shelter...just give back!!! We all need it and we need others......I promise you if you do that then you will get the award inside your heart.....it's an amazing feeling to give back :)

Secondly, this month Spooky Time Jingles is giving back too. Proceeds of sales for some of the participating artists are giving to a Foundation of one of own members. Thanks to all who sent me wishes on my loss. Your kind words meant a lot! Even though it was sad we as a family celebrated his life. We shared stories, photos and many laughs through the tears. Thanks again and your warmth was felt :)

So, during this time I seemed to create and create...it sorta ooozed out of me . I finished with the first batch of Christmas. I have a gallery show coming in December I am preparing for and the store I carrying in gets lots of new items. I love this time of year. I had a small show over the weekend and I sold a few pieces to my early buyers. I am also excited about my new pieces for SPOOKY TIME JINGLES. The new pieces will be available from all of the artists on the 13th....but here is a peek at mine. If your interested let me know. These little fellas are created on top of 3 vintage toy blocks. I just love old toys and when I can use them in my art....well it makes me smile! Lastly, I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween. I know as a family we made it extra special because of the week we had. We had family in and we trick or treated with them...so it was kinda neat having the cousins around. I am taking a break for bit. Our family is grieving the loss of my sweet grandfather who lost his battle with prostate cancer yesterday. We had the gift of being able to say goodbye before he passed and I know he is not suffering anymore. We will be having family coming from out of state and I will be spending time with family. Hi Everyone....
Thanks to all who commented on my last post. I know, I said I would pick the name the next day, but our silly computer didn't work...or maybe it was a spell!! Well, the nice computer man broke the spell and I finally have internet service after not having it for three whole days...what will a witch do. When I finally logged on today, there were more entries so I let them into the witches hat for a chance at the little pumpkin fella. The lucky winner was TAMMY!! Congrats! I had so much fun jumping to party to party...many of you amazed me with your elaborate stories, amazing pictures...and of course all those yummy treats!! My special treat for the party!

Ok...I was too excited and I have a jammed packed schedule of games tomorrow, so I thought I would post my special treat for tomorrows Halloween Blog Party! Such a great idea and I just couldn't pass up a great party :) I am giving a sweet little Halloween pumpkin away. Just leave me a comment and I'll throw your name into my witches hat!! I will gather all the names and the lucky winner will be notified by me. YIPPEEEEE!!! Ok.....there is my treat. Next, I wanted to tell you about a tradition we do in our home every year. I love the little pumpkins and gourds. All the shapes and colors just make happy!! Every year our family goes on a hunt for just the right one to make our perfect family portrait.....
We paint faces and put party hats on each of us. We use toothpicks for arms and spikey hair. We have also used glitter, buttons and pom poms...what ever you like. My kids enjoy this as much as carving out the pumkins. Lastly, I wanted to share my favorite handmade Halloween costume...we try to make our costumes every year and this one from Martha Stewart's Magazine just melted my heart.....here is my little chick. Gather a few white feathered boas, yellow tights and gloves and sew a red thingy on a white pilots hat (I don't know what hat is called on a chicken?? oh my!) and WHOLA...you have the cutest darn chick costume ever!!! She looks like a mad little chick...but really she loved all the feathers and she was quite warm in all her layers....a perfect costume for a cold halloween night of trick or treating!!I hope you enjoyed all my tricks and treats. Spooky Time Jingles is almost here.....plus some goodies!

Hi Everyone,
I promised a lighter post, but I just have to say thank you for all who commented on artistic integrity. The subject seems to be untouched, but as an artist I look at my own art as an expression of myself. So, I hope others will do the same and not copy from other artists. I will end on that...plus it's bad karma for ya...just don't do it.

We've had a wonderful weekend at the soccer and baseball fields. Here in the midwest we have had unseasonable warm weather this weekend....we have been in the 80's all weekend. I'll take it...I am usually at the the kids games in layers and getting rained on this time of year, so this weekend has been absolutely wonderful. Here is a piece I did over the summer that reminded me of today. The warmth of the sun makes me smile :)We're about to go eat Sunday dinner with my in laws, so I thought I'd post a few pictures. Spooky Time Jingles October goodies will post tonight at midnight...Here is a picture of just my Halloween goodie....She is a large piece that I had fun creating. She has a wire cage as a dress. She is trying to gather all the pumpkins she can.....thus her name is, the pumpkin keeper. My favorite part of her is her orange mary janes and striped tights. I might have to go buy me a pair. Both my girls have orange mary janes and I just love them....this time of year is my favorite.

My next goodie is one I never expected. My friend, Michelle from BlackBerry Briar and I decided to swap. I am one lucky girl to have not just one, but TWO originals from her. She is an amazing artist and I am truly the lucky one to call her friend. The first piece I actually picked out the first time I went to her lovely home. It's a whimsical birdie that matches my bathroom and I just smile when I see her....

Here is a close up her sweet face....the details are just amazing.....thanks Michelle I love her!!

The next piece was sooooo unexpected. Michelle had picked one of my witches and so we decided to do another swap......I just love what I received. I can't say enough about her. The way Michelle captures the essence of old timeless dolls is just unbelievable. She is just exquisite!! She will be left out all year around. Thank you, thank you, Michelle. I know we will probably swap again....I am so happy to have an artist friend that challenges me and keeps my on my toes.

Here is one of the pieces I made for her. Since Michelle likes the look of yesteryear and angels I decided to make her an 18th century looking piece.....She stands over 2 feet tall and has a wooden dress I made out of old wood slats....

So I have been busy busy busy.....life in our house is never a dull moment. I have a couple of sneak peeks for Spooky Time Jingles coming soon......

Ok....on a serious note. I had a couple of friends bring to my attention that certain artists are copying my work. I have been through all of the emotions, but then a friend mention that I read this blog....it was so helpful and encouraging. It's the post from Friday. Ullabenulla is lovely artist and she approaches the subject of Artistic Integrity. It was very moving and inspiring as an artist. I know when I sculpt....let's say a snowman, I know I am not the first to do a a snowman....but I put my own style and vision through that piece I am creating. It amazes me people out there will copy you down to the last detail...even the price you are selling your artwork at.....very frustrating!!! I don't know how they can sleep at night. So, if you are reading my blog as you are copying my artwork, I hope you look into the mirror and question your intentions. You should be creating out of your own style......not for a quick buck. Be strong....and if your not meant to be an artist, then go on to something else. I know, I get inspired by other artists, but I am not copying and then trying to sell under my name. I am flattered that people like my art, but its not flattery when you out right steal. I have struggled with this and even thought of throwing in the towel. Then, I think....why I started is why I come back to....I love being creative. I love doing projects with my kids, decorating my house and sculpting things out of bars of clay....its my playdoh as my kids would say. Yes, I get inspired by woodworking artists and fabric artists...but I sculpt out of clay. I love whimisical things and add fun junk to my artwork.....I have always said I am a student of the arts. Always learning my craft....but to go on the internet and steal someones art and then sell as your own...is just plain WRONG!!! So go and be creative and maybe it will set you free..... then to steal someones artwork. Thank you all for have read this and thought I came out of left field with this, but artistic integrity means a lot to me. I was so glad Ullabenulla had the courage to bring this subject up.....I guess I was fired up after I read that it happened to her too! I know my friends that are reading this will agree and hopefully we can ban together and speak loud and tell the MEAN people out there to stop!! Ok, I am done being on my soapbox. I know its a sour subject and I come to my blog and blogland to laugh, smile, appreciate art and artists and to relate....because I know as an artist not everyone thinks we are "normal"...but this subject hit me hard and I wanted to share and get my frustrations out. Wow...can you believe it's October!

I can't believe it's October already, where did the time go. In the spirit of fall I changed my banner too......I love this time of year. It seems like yesterday was the first day of school. I have been working and be bombarded with ideas floating in my head but don't have time to sit down and create...do you ever get that way? I have to stop doing Halloween and go to Christmas, but I have so many ideas spiraling into my sketch book...what shall a girl to do...lol! I have also been noodling on Etsy. I love that site! I am hooked on kids hats, I purchased two this week. One arrived today! It's absolutely adorable. The seller shop is called That Funky Boutique. I also have finished a pair of jeans, yes...more things I create. This idea was not mine though.....this is a pattern I got from That Funky Boutique...I love her things you must check her out!!

We had so much taking pictures.....I love my daughter's mary janes. These jeans are greens, browns and blues....I love this color combinations. Well that's it for now....I'm doing orange ones for my other daughter. Hi everyone,

It's been a while since I last posted. So much has happened. I finally am able to sit down and post. You see my computer is/was in my cozy little basement we finished about a year ago. Well, last weekend we had flooding in our town. It hadn't seen this much water in over 100 years. Our basement was completed washed away. We still are getting things thrown out and trying to save some things....but when something like this happens you can't get attached to "things". My husband and I worked as quickly as we could but most of the kids toys and other things in out store room was lost. So....we have started demo and are still drying out :( Thank you, for all who have emailed us and checked in our family, it truly means a lot!!

Meeting Friends.....

Hi Everyone,

This weekend flew by....we spent most of it at the ball park and soccer fields.

With fall quickly approaching, I get slammed with all those crazy fall sport schedules. I quickly become the oraganizer of who gets dropped off at this field and who is picked up where...and of course throw in snacks, water and the right color uniform....esshh!! I do love it though and the older they get it gets more exciting!! I also pack tons of things to do for my littlest who is dragged through it all...but I know she not far behind them. I do bring stuff for me too, I can't bring clay or paint, but I bring wires to be twisted for armature....I love to knit too and its easy to knit and watch at the same time...so I do feel like I'm getting things done. It must be the artist nature or just always having to do things all the time...I can't ever sit still. Plus, it makes me less nervous watching the kids...even at this age it's almost nail biting!!

So my weekend started off so great....I had two artists over to my house. Jenn from Noodle and Noodle Lou and Michelle from the The BlackBerry Briar. Both true talents and I adore their work immensely!! We each have kids and thought it would be a nice little play date...even for us grown up gals too! Jenn just moved here and both Michelle and I were so excited to have her so close to us. Michelle and I meet a few months ago and just clicked....she is so sweet and we relate having kids and this art thing going on. So, we decided to meet in the morning because we all have kids in school too and had to be back in time to catch them off the bus. I was on a creative high....just to relate to another mom/artist was sooo great. We chatted about marketing our art and the balancing act of raising a family too. We kept chatting and chatting and it was like we were little kids again so excited to be telling story after story!! We gave each other little goodies...which how GREAT is that....so unexpected too!! So the time flew by and before we knew it it was time to pick up our little ones from school. I had so much fun...it truly was great food, great friends and a GREAT time!! So, go check them out and if you don't have their art yet.....get a piece you won't be disappointed!! I can't wait until our next gathering!!

Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for all your kind words from my last post. I am forging ahead and taking your advice. Soon, I will be creating in a quiet house, counting the minutes until I pick up my kids...and then having to be the referee 10 minutes after they come home... a day in the life of a sahm!! So with all this change happening I'll just share a photo I took when my littlest went to her first day of preschool...it melted my heart She was soooo brave and walked right into her classroom, turned around and said "bye mom" I was strong for her and then I peeked in her classroom a bit after she walked away. So, the first day was a success....I know she will love her new classmates and all the fun things the will do. We even got are first of many art projects on our refrigerator. Can you tell I am a proud momma? Thanks again for the moms who are bit ahead of me, your advice is greatly appreciated!

So...it's that time again... Spooky Time Jingles will be offering new goodies for the month of September. I am hoping to take some better pics....it was a bit overcast today. So don't think your advice was all for nothing. I know it's not the greatest pic....I am trying!!! So I hope you like her...she makes me smile. It will be hard to part with her...do you ever get that way about your art? So I am on a roll with homemade costume kids. I have a few more sketched out...so hopefully they will make it to clay. So before I go, here is a shot of my girls last year at halloween....I made their costumes...hence the inspiration I guess :o) I was even one too....my hubby was the farmer. (get it...farmer with his chicks...i thought it was funny). My son would NOT be a chicken (who can blame him). If you look at the picture you can see he is the headless horseman...it was a cool costume! So, at least I got to have fun with my girls. I know it won't last so I will relish in it now...I hope you get a good laugh.....

Lots of starts....

Well, this was the start of a new school year. So many emotions for me. I was excited that my two older ones wouldn't be fighting ever 10 minutes. They get along most of the time, but summers are tough when they are with each other all the time... I am surprised I have any hair left. My youngest starts preschool next Tuesday, so this week was getting to know the teacher and having to get her suppiles for this new endeavor. I'm sad that all my babies are growing up too fast. My middle daughter started 1st grade and going to school all day for the first time.....scary! It's like you throw them out there and just hope they will be ok. I know its tough, but when I was standing by her in line with all her peers......she just looked so small and innocent and I know how kids will be and tease and be mean...it just breaks my heart. I know, I'm here when they come home and can't be with them all the time, but it's rough. I know, I know some of you are thinking.....cut the cord, girl. I am very proud of my crew, but it's too many firsts for this mom to handle. So sorry for laying it all out and not talking about more excited art stuff. So more.....

My oldest started his last first day of elementry school. I remember dropping him off in kindergarten and can't believe the years have flown by....so darn quickly. Now, with the blink of the eye, he is the big dog of the school, but next year he will start junior high...even MORE scary for me to think about...ugh!!!!! So, with all these starts.....I do have some of my own art stuff happening too. Which is kinda good, so I don't dwell on my kidos and just weep some more. I accepted an offer from a store on the east coast. She sent me pictures of her shop and I was just thrilled, but scared all at the same time. I get so nervous shipping my products and not being able to go to the shoppe and see her new items and peek at mine....all so scary for me!! I know, I must forge ahead and try to get my art seen by others...hopefully putting a smile on their faces too :) So, today as I sit by the computer and ponder all these things...in silence mind you, my house is very VERY quiet, I am very excited, sad, nervous...all of these crazy emotions, but the fall is coming and I welcome it with open arms. I will embrace it and try not to cry that much.....thanks for listening. I do have some new pieces for the sites I participate on.....so here is a tid bit of what's coming, I hope you enjoy! Thanks so much for all you advice on my picture taking. I am taking it all in, writing a ton of notes...so I don't forget and hopefully they will work for my next month's offerings. So thanks again for all the great tips. See, I secretly knew not all artists are NOT MEAN...and will offer their advice to help their fellow artists. So thanks a BUNCH it means a lot!!!!

My Tools....and a sneek peek...I know again!

Hello Everyone,

I have been tagged by the lovely Kim Hardt. I am supposed to tell you what tools I use in my artwork. Well, I love gadgets.....gadgets for my kitchen, gadgets for my garden, gadgets for everything and having them for my art is no exception. Here is a picture of just a few.

I have a old fashion thingy...I don't know the proper name, but I know it's pretty old. My aunt used to have a bunch of tools and when I came across this one, I fell in love. It's the silver one on the right. Inside the top (the wide bulky part) is about 9 bits. You put it into the top and then when you give it force...good ol' elbow power, it digs a hole into the wood. I love it, I use it on almost ever piece I make, because I use dowels to start my figures out. Then, I have needle nose pliers...the mini ones. I love mine, they're pink, plus my husband will never use um'(so that means they won't get lost). Next, I have huge dog nail clippers....I know kinda strange, but they cut dowels easily and smoothly. I don't use these on my dog, he has his own pair, but sometimes you find something because you can't find what you usually use and use it. This worked and it worked WELL!! Next, I have toothpicks...I use them a ton, I buy them at the dollar store....1500 for a buck!! Nice tool, for paint...small details and adding glue!! Lastly, I have only one hand in the picture...I just couldn't find the other one. Just kidding, the other one is holding the complicated tool that I don't like....my camera.! UGGH!! I think my hands are my best tool.....I smooth and smooth with my fingers and I just love getting them dirty!! Thanks Kim for inviting me to play...this was fun. I hope you enjoyed my tools. A little help and a sneak peak!

Have you ever been so frustrated you wanted to pack it all in? I'm having problems taking pictures of my art. I simply CAN NOT do it. I have tried and tried...and I think it's becoming worse. I go to other blogs and many of you have such wonderful pictures. I get so inspired, but mine never turn out :( So any helpful tips (even tell me what camera you have) I would welcome, PLEASE :)

Just some info: I have a Canon Power Shot S3 IS....I think it's too much for me and what I need, but then I don't know. I don't know camera's or computers....ughh.... when your trying to sell your art those are two things you can't be bad at! Sorry for the negativity and souriness....I would just like to get better. So I will forge ahead and any help...send my way! Thanks a bunch~I should add...if you have ever given me advice before.... I did listen, I even wrote it down so I wouldn't forget....but I'm just a seriously bad picture taker...uggh again!

So in that area I will share what I'm talking about...here is a sneek peek.

Fun in the Mud!

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick post. My husband and I did a buddy race over the weekend and we had a blast.

It's a 7 mile course with running and biking in trails and lots of MUD...then at the finish line you have to dig...like army crawl through the mud pit to cross the finish line. It was so much fun, I can't wait till next year to do it again. Here's a peek of us....of course I had more mud on me then my husband.....it was so much fun and just hilarious. You could even wear a costume....there was a husband and wife team that was "Thing #1 & 2" from Dr. Suess that was my favorite. Enjoy the pic.....get a good laugh and if you want to do it with your buddy check out the site. It's all over the country so it's bound to be close to ya!

Big Annoucement!!

This weekend has flown by. Still painting, we are finishing up with the small details. Shutters, eves, and window trim. That seems to be taking the longest. I will snap a few pictures when we are finished. I won't bore with anymore house stuff......I do have a big annoucement to make!

So, on to the more exciting news....I have joined a group of artists. I am so thrilled to be apart of such great talent. The group is called Spooky Time Jingle. The slogan is so cute..."where spooky and sweet commingle". It's Halloween and Christmas one of a kinds for your home and the all year round collector.....which I am! I love both of those seasons and I think its a grand idea to do all year long. Dani from Ambition Designs is the founder and she has done an amazing job on the site. The site will have new art every 13th of the month. I will be debuting on August 13th and I am soooo excited. They also have a blog. Check it out and I invite you to join me next month and see all the great offerings from everyone.

Two posts in one week...WOW!!

Hi Everyone,

I know two posts in one week....that's big for me.

We are in our cool basement....its in the nineties here and its muggy outside.

Trying to stay cool and relax. Well for a little bit. We are repainting our house.....I shouldn't say we. My husband is doing most of the work. I am the beverage girl, sandwich maker...suntan lotion girl and all around fetch it girl. Today we are almost 1/2 done. We went with a new color....are house was white and we went with a olive green with cream trim and black shutters....kind of a shocker I hope it turns out ok. I think it will be ok, the color is bold but lovely. We have an old house...not too old (i secretly want to have an old cottage style home) Ours is like the 70's trac homes. This is the last update we are doing before we put it on the market. I know, I know...bad timing , but since we like the area we are not in a hurry and want to stay around here...just a want a different style home. So that is what we are doing this week....no rain in the forecast just hot and sticky. So since I'm not making sandwiches right now I'm blogging :) whoooo!!

So I was reflecting on my last post...sorry for no pictures of the awesome chocolate cherry after workout protein smoothie...next time I won't forget to take a picture.

Today after my workout I made a 3 egg white omelet....its just not your plain jane omelet.

*3 Egg Omelet*

- 3 egg whites

-hand full of fresh spinach

-grape or cherry tomatoes halved

-1/2 yellow pepper diced

- 2 cloves of diced garlic...less if you want

-1 tbsp of grapeseed oil

- cracked pepper to taste

In a skillet...I prefer cast iron, add oil and heat over low/med heat.

I use grapeseed oil for the high heat factor......it wont burn or change the benefits of the oil.

Toss in spinach and then I like to wait a minute....I usually start chopping then.

Add garlic, yellow pepper and tomatoes.

Saute down and add pepper.....then whisk egg whites and add to skillet.

Scramble up and enjoy....I add a bit more pepper to the end.

The yellow pepper adds a crunch and the benefits of yellow peppers are great. Did you know a yellow pepper has 365% of your daily recommended value of vitamin C....I know it packs a punch! An orange only has 93%. Since your body doesn't store Vitamin C its safe to get a up to 25 times the daily value (75mg) each day! I know...I have tons a facts like this.....I love reading up on nutrition and how our bodies use what we put in it :) Food for thought I guess....

Inspired by friends...a true gift!

Hi Everyone....
I hope everyones Fourth went out like a bang.....sorry I just had to do it..HAHA.

We spent ours with friends and saw an awesome firework show. While the show was going on I even leaned over to my husband and said this never gets old...does it for any of you? I still feel like a kid sitting on a blanket in awww of the booms and colors...simply breathtaking. I also ran in the early morning hours....so I started the 4th with my own little bang. This was my first race since I was injuried in the winter...and it felt wonderful. It was just a 4 mile race. I even place 6th in my age group...whooo...my goal was just to not walk and I never imagined I would place in my age group. Since my injury I have changed my lifestyle...I should say my whole family's. We have begun working out and eating "clean". It feels amazing...plus I have lost 30 pounds. Great incentive and lots of fun to go shopping again! So if your interested in great recipes, go to Clean Eating...its a magazine I picked up at Walmart. It's a branch off from a womens fitness magazine called Oxygen...two great publications and lots of inspiration. I know if I can do it with three little ones anyone can. Here's one of my favorite after workout drinks....

Dark Chocolate Cherry Protein Shake:
- 1 Scoop of Chocolate Protein powder ( I use Fit&Fiber35)
- 1/2 cup of frozen dark sweet cherries
- 1 banana
- 1/2 cup of rice milk
- few ice cubes...if desired....mix in a blender and enjoy! So tasty and good for you!
Especially if your chocoholic like me...mmmmm!

With my love of chocolate and the sweetness from the dark cherries it's like having chocolate covered cherry ice cream...minus all the bad stuff!

I know I'm rambling, but I had such a great visit with a friend. It was so nice to connect with someone that understands. We are both moms, and have a passion for art, but struggle with all the everyday up and downs of raising a family and trying to continue our passion or even feel creative. Ya know when you even get a chance to get out in blogland and see all the other awesome blogs and amazing talents...sometimes its hard. Especially when maybe your things are not selling.... or your feeling like your stuff stinks. Well, my awesome and talented friend Michelle from Blackberry Briar even bluntly put out on her blog to just "quit". It's funny because we have chatted on the phone and I have leaned on her many times and expressed giving up and packing up my studio for good. I have also expressed this to another good friend Elaine from Artiful Spirit. Which to my surprise every artist goes through this...even the best of them. I will say I know this sounds bad, but when you admire these artists and when they say thay have the same thoughts.....well that makes you feel "normal". As normal as an artist can feel...haha! I am lucky enough to call these gals friends and I feel grateful to have them in my corner. So in this journey if you popped over to Michelle's blog she mentioned a book I recommended to her...It's so great and uplifting. The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. A short read...but this book packs a punch!! Great words for any artist...someone that feels the pressure or sorta "writers block". Here is tiny bit of what is worth picking up this book....

"The most pernicious aspect of procrastionation is that it can become a habit. We don't just put off our lives today; we put them off till our deathbed.
Never forget: This moment, we can change our lives. There never was a moment, and never will be, when we are without the power to alter our destiny. This second, we can turn the tables on Resistance.

I truly think each and everyone of has a gift from God....we MUST use it and not be led by Resistance. This journey is hard, but I hope I can walk through it gracefully or at least stumble among great company and be lifted by you...my artist friends!! Hi Everyone....

I know its been awhile. Summer is always jammed packed. We seem to be on the go....

I haven't been on the computer lately, so I thought I would steal a chance to leave a note.

We have had family in and had a weekend wedding to attend in Apple River, Illinois. We seemed to be flying by the seats of our pants. Can you believe its July tomorrow. Oh My!! I wish I can lay around like our doggies.....

We had so much fun with all of our family and going to see our friends exhange vows...but I am glad to have a week to recover. Until next weekend.....any big plans for the 4th? We always get together with friends and go see "the booms" as the kids call them. A true essence of summer!! I love it.

So during the dog days of summer the kids always like to go exploring....we had a great adventure day down by the creek. Most of these days are not planned and its fun going with the flow of what the kids want to do.....most of the time its stuff like this. With having two girls and a boy....so it's never a dull moment. Here are the boys catching frogs......do you think we caught any??

Yes, we did!! This was my youngest daughters first experience seeing a frog up close......she would rather see them like this.....
.....but the boys...they love this stuff. Here is my son up close and personal with one of the critters. ***DISCLAIMER***no animals were injuried during the photo opt :) they were caught and released into their natural habitats :)
Even though at the end of the day we were covered in mud we had a blast......here is my daughter looking for more froggies

She is actually holding river rocks she collected during the course of the day....mommy tip, if you choose to have fun down at the creek. Take the rocks out of your car......we left them in the car overnight and the next day the car smelled like lake...kinda icky!
Lastly...here was a critter we spotted watching us frolic in his home....he was very gracious and didn't come any closer....the kids would of seen mommy run away. I get kinda scared around these rodents....eeek!! So sorry I haven't been around much lately.....things to explore and lots of fun to have!! Summer always seems to fly by. Summer has began.....yippee!!

Hello Everyone.....

I know its been a while since we chatted. We have busy with end of year picnics, school plays and soccer games. The last day of school was yesterday and we celebrated our kids promotions to the next grade with going to the creek for a picnic. We had PB & J's and then took our shoes off and with our trusty nets caught frogs and craw daddies.....oh yeah it was a great time!! My middle child which is a girl...is soooo it this and likes to catch critters and name them! We of course let them go and no one was hurt by our exploring. Our youngest doesn't like mud and sat in her stroller with a paper towel and water bottle wiping the mud off her toes...it was quite comical!

So....change of subect, jump on by glitter and grunge and check out all the great offerings this month by all the amazing artists! So GREAT!! Here is what I have, Uncle Ellie. I hope everyone enjoys the summer. So over the weekend we (I shouldn't say we...my husband) fixed all the house wounds.

Our water heater was replaced...our dryer is working, so I guess I have to get to the piles(mounds)...ugh! Our shower is working.....and I think that's all I mentioned to ya in the last post. So with things in working order I am sitting here writing to you....ha! I should be doing laundry or taking a nice hot shower, but I am noodling in blogland. That's so easy for me to do. I love all the eye candy!!

It's been really cold here the last few days....we even had snow yesterday, yes I typed SNOW! When will it pass.....I think soon, hopefully. So I took a fewer pictures of a squirrel yesterday....

I know I should of been doing laundry...but I was just gazing at this little critter. How funny is he...just lying around.

I know I get a kick out of the littlest things, but this little guy made me smile. We even have a couple of ducks that the girls and I feed everyday and this little brave creature comes up too....I'm no snow white, so once he gets a little close we go inside. I am so a chicken when it comes to squirrels. We once had baby squirrels in our roof.....last year's house wound, my hubby had to fix that too, it never ends. But we had a family of squirrels living in the roof.....one day the babies got out and well....to my surprise, when I turned to go down my hallway, I saw this...see the picture below....eeek....the window was open too! I was so scared.....and the stairwell was right at the window, so I couldn't go down the stairs or scream because the screen was they only thing between me and this tiny thing!! I was soooo scared...it took some courage, but I eventually ran downstairs!

Well, my husband wanted to go and catch the squirrels himself, and I just envisioned this grown man falling off the roof and hurting himself, so I called the critter line...I forgot the proper name, the company that comes and gets pests or babies off your premise....for lots of money! So, it took three days to coax the mama into the cage...she was so smart she kept tricking the cage and getting the food. The man told us grey squirrels are the most aggressive and the smartest of the squirrel family. The man finally had to bring back the baby and within 20 minutes the mama came and finally was reunited with her family. The man took them to a forest park.....not close to our home, thank goodness! So, I was happy they moved on and my hubby didn't fall off the roof.....wouldn't that have been a funny picture. Just kidding.....I guess I still laugh when my husband tells that story of me scared out of my mind and him wanting to be a hero with a broom and fishing net! I hope your laughing with me girls!

Blah Blah Blah...I am so boring!

Ha...I am so boring, but can I tell you I am just laughing thinking about what I am about to say.....our house has been crazy the last few days. We are having a new roof put on and ya know when you try to do a home improvemnt project...some thing else breaks, well at least in our house this happens A LOT!! First, our furnace broke.....I wouldn't be too upset with the weather getting a bit nicer, but the nights are still cold...brrrr. Then out dryer breaks....this wouldn't bother me either, but the piles add up quickly with a family of five...add our little one things she's a fashion queen and changes her wardrobe two or three times a day...so its like a family of eight..ugh!! Thirdly our bathroom shower faucet is leaking and the water is coming down to the second floor bathroom...oh my. Oh yeah, remember the roof is being done too....this is madness! I will have to bragh a bit...my handy husband fixed them...not all, but the most important ones.....the furnace and dryer and the roof will be done tomorrow. The bathroom will be fixed soon, at least no water in the walls. I'm a nut and always scared of mold, YUCK! So, we are showering still, but have to downstairs to the other bathroom, so kudos to my hubby! Even with all that he fixes it all and says what next.....I get my strength from him, I would of cracked under that pressure, for sure!

So, quick change of subject......I have been in a creative lull...low, just a plain funk. It's been a for a while now. Do you ever feel that way? A good friend of mine told me that when an artist evolves or is about to go through a change in their art they go through a slump...so that was very encouraging to me, because that is the way I feel. So I dont have pictures of what I have been doing...because I haven't been too creative....a lot of projects started but none finished or worth showing, at least in my thoughts...of funk! I did snap a picture of my middle daughter's jeans....another pair of capris. We couldn't find her white mary janes so she wore these.

The have green apples, stripes, and polka dots...they are so fun for the spring!! So I hope you didn't mind the rant....I hope to snap out of the fog and get back to business....lol! I will leave you with a sneak peak of a project I am working on for a friend getting married in June.....I know it's a crummy picture, but I am still working on some of the details :) enjoy the day friends, jackie

What month is it.....

I can't believe it's April already. We picked up soccer schedules and my head started to spin....I think my head will fall off when our third baby starts sports..oh my! Between practices and games we are booked up almost everyday until June. I do love it and to see my son going over his schedule like he won the lottery puts a smile on my face. He lives...eats and sleeps for soccer. I didn't play soccer when I was younger, I played softball....so I don't know where he gets this enthusiaum, but I do love watching him and the games are getting so exciting.

April came into our neck of the woods with a storm....and I loved it....and least it wasn't snow :)

The wind blew and it was so calming. The grass is turning greener and my lillies are even budding through the ground...yippee!! A few years ago, I transpanted lillies from the side of our house to around our deck.....I really thought it wouldn't work....I still get amazed every year that they come back and they bring friends! I know they are hearty, but I don't have a green thumb at all. So I plan to do a small...really small garden this year....I'll post my progress. Here's a picture of a one of my lilies last year.....

This inspiration came from when I first visited my husband uncles home. He is retired and lives in a retirement community. He lost his wife and lives alone. He is a true gardener....here in the midwest we get to have summer flowers and gardens only for a few months, but when I see his magical creations I wish we can have them longer. He is such a great gardner, a few churches commision him and he is busy all summer long....oh yeah forgot to mention he is in his eighties and rides his bike around town. A true inspriation! Happy Easter everyone. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I know this is the first weekend of spring...but here in the midwest we have been blanketed with more snow, ugh!!

We will have the egg hunt indoors, but we will still celebrate :) I have listed my Etsy shop....yay.

So back to the to wish...today is my little girls birthday. She turned three today, yes a spring baby. She was a pure delight from the moment we found out we were expecting. We were told we had less then 5% chance of getting pregnant.....we'll I think we surprised our doctors. Even after having a 3 hour surgery...which was supposed to be a routine 20 minute procedure. My ovaries were attached to my stomach...sorry for the visual..they gave us grime news and said it was unlikely I would be able to conceive again. Well....we thought we would try and God would watch over us, well God graced us with a perfect angel! She has been such a joy to our family. Here is a rare picture of me and the kids...dont laugh, its hours after having a c-section, but I love the smile on my sons face...my daughters dazed look, and my new addition sleeping through it all....which she still does to this day! Today we celebrated her birth and what an awesome weekend with Easter weekend too. Happy birthday love!!

Horton Hears an Etsy Shoppe is Coming!!

Do you ever get stumped even before you even write the title.

I do all the time......being creative with words is a challenge with me.

I know, you know I have more then one challenge....lol!! So thanks for bearing with me.

Today, the girls and I saw the hilarious movie Horton Hears a Hoo!! What a cute story and the graphics amaze me. They even make the movies funny for us big kids....my oldest would say...why are you laughing? ....so the humor is for both young and old.....my oldest daughter is 6.

A must see in my book and if you have little ones...it kept them entertained the whole entire time. My baby girl turns three next week and she stayed in her own chair the entire time (and she wasn't a sleep on my arm or me)....whoo HOO!!

So, I havent posted in a bit because as the title reads....I'm working on opening an Etsy shoppe.

I know, I think I am the last to jump on this wonderful band wagon...but better late than never, right! I'm very excited and WOW it's taken me a lonnnnnggggg time! I am hoping to have 7-9 new pieces and I have been very busy!! I have found a new energy. My physical therapy is going very well and I am hardly having pain.....I don't want to be too boastful, but I feel good. Thanks for all your encouragement and prayers!! Oh, I am just kidding...LOL, I was envisioning accepting this award like I'm in a fancy sequence ball gown at the Oscars. I'm actually wearing sneakers, running pants and a long sleeve shirt. Just giving you a funny visual. I do thank Colleen for Frostings and Sparkles for her kind words....which I send right back to you. I think the same about you and can't believe were are somewhat neighbors and we met in Blogland!! Thanks so much! So, I think I am supposed to either tell you seven random things or pass the award on.....so I will do BOTH!

1. I love eating Synder Pretzels and drinking orange juice....yummy

2. Ok, I am back from my snack break....I love vintage toys, a gift I get from dad.

I love seeing them in mixed media, flea markets and of course garage sales :)

4.I'm growing out my hair......ugh I am in the ugly stage....YUCK!!

I was told I would NEVER become pregnant and the Lord blessed me with three angels

Jake, Alexis, and Katie Reese...So it's a play on words....Fat=Blessed and Jak=Jackie plus my kids first intial.

6.LOVE LOVE LOVE sushi.....my husband thinks it's gross, so I don't get to eat it as often as I'd like....but I truly love it.....did I say that already....hmmmm I guess I am just really hungry.
Plus I finished all my pretzels and oj.

7.I threw pottery in college and this is why I have a love for clay. I didn't have the means or time to be away from my children so I bought paper clay at Micheal's one day and taught myself handbuilding.....thus my start into my whimisical world...plus my kiddos inspire me EVERYDAY!!

Well...there you have it. I am feeling better and the healing is a slow process, but my heart is staying positive. Thanks for all your thoughts and notes....it was a daily blessing...thank you!!

Happy Leap Day.....

An extra day of winter in my neck of the words.....but dreaming of spring!!

I have new bunnies, take a peek...

These guys will be over at Glitter and Grunge tomorrow....along with my bunny boxes.I am struggling with my pictures....tried all day with different light even a light box. This is a real challenge for me.....I should be more frank..."I stink at picture taking...ugh!!" So this is the best and I know its crummy.....

So does everyone know why we celebrate Leap Day?? I actually didn't.

Brief History of Leap Day
In ancient Rome, leap day was on February 24 due to February being the last month of the calendar. The original Roman calendar added an extra month every few years to maintain the correct seasonal changes. The Julian calendar was implemented in 45 BCE, resulting in a leap day being added to the end of February every four years. In 1582 Pope Gregory XIII refined the Julian calendar with a new rule that a century year is not a leap year unless it is evenly divisible by 400. The introduction of the Gregorian calendar was observed in some countries including Italy, Poland, Portugal, and Spain. The conversion took longer for other countries such as Great Britain (1752) and Lithuania (1915).

Bunnies are coming.....

Hello Friends,

As more snow has blanketed us and yet more to come tonight....I'm wishing of spring. I have a few bunnies that I'm slowly working on. I even started doing things a bit differently because of my injury. I now sit on a chair and have all my work station at eye level...so I don't strain my neck...ugh! I am staying positive, but I admit its driving me crazy :O I can only do a bit at a time....so its a very slow process. This is not a pity party so I will quickly change the subject....

Ohh....I do want to mention thank you a bunch...for your support and prayers...it means A LOT!!

I am reading a few books....another thing to help me be still and heal my injury, but I'm not mentioning that...oh my. So back to my book....so great. This book resonated with me and I think everyone should take a peek at it.....I won't give too much away, but you will have a different outlook on life and your conscious thought choices. I'm talking so much about this book, my husband keeps saying, "are ya done"....he wants to read it with all my babblin' So if you have a chance go grab a copy :)

So as I was fumbling through pictures and I found more bunnies.....so I will bounce them in here and give you a sneak peek on whats to come on Friday. My new pieces will be up on Glitter and Grunge. I will post them here too....I'm not as fast a bunny, more like a turtle....so check back on Friday!

Moon man......and therapy...yikes!!

Did you see the moon during the week. The kids were so excited, we watched as the shadow appeared. What a neat night to watch the lunar eclipse. My husband took pictures....but they were a bit blurry. We are both bad picture people...I know you know that from my side because my pictures are always icky, such a challenge for me. So if you missed it check out Sam I Am's Blog....she takes amazing photos and has one of the moon. So great!! Here is my moon man....he simply holds a star and reads,..."If you Believe".

So thanks for all your support and I wish I was on the moon weightless and maybe pain free. I have been going through some lumps lately. I have two herniated discs in my neck and some degenerative bone loss in my neck. So, I am going to physical therapy...because I'm too scared of surgery...yikes!! Sitting straight up and standing relieves my pain.....so sitting writing to you all relieves the pain. Laying down and sleeping are the worst.....so if I ramble, it's because of pure exhaustion.....my family has been a huge support and I love you all for your amazing help. I "do believe" I will get better. Reading blogs and having such great friends is a blessing....thank you all!! I am laughing through my tears :) Stay safe and enjoy the day!! Jackie

A cup of inspiration please!

Hello Friends,

New art and some needed inspiration. I love quotes, words and collage. So, I decided to do a big dollie and add quotes. Well this challenge lifted me up when I needed lifting up! Little did I know....The dollie is very tall almost 18 inches tall. She has copper wings and buttons down her back. Her hands spoke to me the most and I feel she stands tall with grace. There is a small vintage skelton key on her chest. This represents so much...and the words are just what I needed!

Well, I wanted to start this entry by saying I had so much fun! I had to start writing down the blogs I want to go back and visit...otherwise my family wouldn't of seen mom for a few days! The talent and generousity was so overwhelming and I was honored to be part of such a great giveaway.
SO I will get down to business........my daughter had fun punching out the circles....if I would have had a heart punch I would of been more festive. We numbered all the circles so it would be fair. Five days until Valentine's...4 days until I pull the name for the drawing! I am sooo excited.

I have had so much fun going to other blogs. I can sit here for hours and noodle around. I must be productive so I had to push myself away from the computer. Need some color.....winter fun!!

Today has been blanketed us with more snow. I had to shovel twice yesterday just to keep up.....and more to come this weekend. We have been playing in the snow....no snowmen yet (hopefully soon). We have gone sledding and a few attempted forts. I was out numbered on building a snowman. Plus, my son said, "Mom....the snow isnt good packing snow".....ugh what does poor ol' mom know. We did make angels and went down the slide of our play ground....that seemed to be the highlight and hours of going up the ladder and down the super fast slide. Here is the gang with a few big kids racing the little ones down the hill! WHooOO!!! WhhhOOOOOOooooooo!!! Sledding is fun except for next day when muscles you didn't even know you had are sore......at least for poor ol' Mom.....

So as my eyes were blinded of white....I kept envisioning color...so I rearranged the flowers from our daughters birthday that her daddy gave her. I put them in this vintage dollie. I love color, sometimes afraid of color....but splashes make me smile~

Yes....I have these whimisical dollies, some sort of creamer set. I love the charm and they make me happy. I have never seen a set like these, so if you have any clue where these ladies are from, let me know. I hope they make you smile too!

My bed is usually layered in white.....yes, I guess I'm afraid of color again, but I love the crispness of white on a bed. Yeah, yeah I know an another excuse....I'm actually stumped on what color to do in my bedroom. I think my bed throws me for a loop. My husband says he is ready to paint when I can decide a color......gee thanks hon~ I do get bored with just white, so here is my attempt to add color.....a ray of sunshine on my bed. The heart pillow was made from a friend. She uses recycled wool sweaters and embellishes them with vintage buttons...how sweet and a nice touch for Valentine's Day!!

Lastly, as I am wishing my middle daughter a great BIG happy 6th birthday!! I can't believe she is six, not a baby anymore. Even though I tell her she will always be my baby, she asked me politely, "Mom, can you not call me baby anymore?" I had to look at the ceiling to stop from welling up....sniffle sniffile. I can't believe the time goes by so quickly. She requested a new dollie for her room....so trying to hide and work on it at the same time was a bit challenging, but I did surprise her. She is my little monkey and always smiling...so here was what I made for my little girl...enjoy!!

Snow Day.....

Hello Friends.....

February has come in with over a foot of snow. My son and I have been shoveling all morning.....too cold for the girls, but we are going to build a snowman later. We have two puppies, we call our other children with four feet. One is huge, he weighs over 160 pounds and is full of love. He loves the snow, we have to drag him in sometimes. Our other four legged child is a 22 pound shih tzu.

He my friends doesnt like the cold.....snow....rain...or even the wind! I will let you get your own laughs. Finn and Chomper are inseparatable, but when weather is involved Finn says....see ya, I'll stay inside! Well, I am off again to shovel and build a snowman! The last picture is of my son helping his mom shovel the driveway. My husband would be proud.......that stinker didn't have a snow day, so he didn't help us.
